Coraline

This is the latest stop motion film by Henry Selick. While it tries its hardest to be the Nightmare Before Christmas, Selick’s best film to date, its just a little too long(2 hours +) and for a film that long it doesn’t tie up well enough.

It is an entertaining ride into a strange land, however it is also one of the worst attempts at cover a franchise I have ever seen. The original book by Neil Gaiman, which I must admit I have not read, has been adapted into a film but a graphic novel, video game and Broadway musical. What is next?

It is a shame when globalization moves out of business and into the creative world. It took a pretty well imagined story and killed it.

The film is however a good use of the new 3D technology and mixed well with the themes hidden within the story itself. So unless you have an awesome home theatre, go out and see this one.
